Pros and Cons of Social Media for Teenagers

Social Media is the use of web based and mobile technology to communicate with others. There are a lot of feature that can be used on social media, texting, voice call, video call, posting some picture or video, and many features. Almost all teenagers use many social media such as Instagram, Line, Twitter, and many more. Especially now days, because of the pandemic, having a social media is a must. The use rate of social media on the teenagers age is really high. Teenagers can even spend more than 12 hours social media per days. 

There’s so many advantages from social media for teenagers, they can easily interact with their friends without have to go out and even meet new friends from all around the world. They can become more insightful and care about things surround them because they can access news and a lot of information more easily and usually news on social media is more interesting to read. On social media, there is also a lot of knowledge that is not taught in school so it expands their knowledge, besides social media can even help them to improve their skills such as entrepreneurship, creativity. Social media is also a platform where you can freely share your thoughts, experience, and also show off their skills.

On the other hand, social media also has so many disadvantages, it can distract your focus so that you spend more time on social media than studying and even to the point of not leaving the room and not interacting with family or friends. There are also a dangerous side of social media because it is easy to provide information about private life, many people easily access personal information that can be used for bad things. Minors can create their own social media accounts and access content they shouldn't see, they also can't tell the difference between good and bad so they copy it and do bad things. 

In conclusion, social media is very important in this era, although it has many disadvantages and is dangerous but in fact it can be prevented by using social media wisely and for minors it must be supervised by adults. As long as you use social media for good it can bring you many advantages.
